Sustainability and digitalization are now critical challenges for the textile sector, which is characterized by a complex supply chain and significant environmental impact. With the aim of addressing these needs, "Texploration" was created — a project promoted by MagnoLab, an innovation network made up of Italian and international companies active throughout the entire textile supply chain.
The project aims to foster collaboration with startups, scaleups, and innovative SMEs through an open innovation approach, creating a national and European reference ecosystem capable of generating a positive impact on the local area, the environment, and society.
The MagnoLab network brings to the project its specialized expertise and a physical network of next-generation pilot plants located in Cerrione (Biella): a unique environment that enables rapid and collaborative prototyping of innovative solutions, which can then be directly transferred to the production facilities of participating companies for large-scale manufacturing.
The companies in the network directly involved in Texploration include: Canalair, Dbt Fibre, De Martini, Di.Vé, Filidea, Maggia, Marchi&Fildi, Pinter Group, Stamperia Alicese, and Tintoria Finissaggio 2000.
Texploration consists of an international Proof-of-Concept (PoC) call aimed at innovative entities capable of responding to specific business needs: energy optimization, digitalization of production processes, reduction of resource consumption, development of recyclable and biodegradable materials, and the use of Artificial Intelligence to optimize the supply chain.
The program, which lasts around nine months, is structured into four main phases:
Scouting of startups;
Selection of the best ideas in collaboration with MagnoLab network companies;
Co-creation of prototypes;
Presentation and promotion of the developed solutions, with the goal of facilitating and accelerating their market entry.
The initiative is supported by dpixel and Sellalab from the Sella Group, which will provide mentors and expertise to support open innovation processes, interconnection, and growth of the participating startups.
